Zoning

Dear Neighbors,
I wanted to update you on the latest on the Cox zoning. After a meeting at Cox to see the stream buffers in question and the delivery of our memo to Cox and the DeKalb Planning Commission, Cox came to the Planning Commission and agreed to the deferral we had requested. I take this as a victory. One of the planning commissioners said afterwards that we, the neighbors "had raised some serious questions that need to be addressed."
I've attached the memo we delivered to the commission outlining the issues and our concern over stream buffers and TRAFFIC! We were granted a full cycle deferral which gives us another couple of months to work on these issues. Copies of the zoning application, traffic report, site plan can be downloaded from www.ashfordalliance.org. Just go to Documents, and zoning section.
I have brought the attorney to Byrnwyck and walked our path and stream to give her a clear idea how we are just downstream from the Cox stream that is affected by their huge construction project.
I hope we will end up with trees and stream buffer landscaping for our neighborhood as well as Murphy Candler, Ashford Dunwoody etc. as well as concrete plans for traffic improvements. Anyway, I think it is a starting point and a good way to get the county and PCID focused on the traffic gridlock in this area. If any of you want to be involved in future discussions with Cox, please let me know. I also wrote a piece for The Crier in the July 17th edition which you can view online at www.thecrier.net.

Best regards,
Rebecca Williams
