Pool Rules

  1. Swimming is allowed ONLY when the lifeguard is on duty.
  2. All swimming is strictly at the swimmer's own risk.
  3. Lifeguards have complete authority over conduct and safety in and around the Byrnwyck Main and Baby Pools.  Please help them by observing the rules and always follow the lifeguard's request.
  4. The use of inflatable toys, balls, water guns, etc... are at the discretion of the lifeguard and Pool Manager.  Water guns may be squirted only into the pool, in the deep end, and only at children who wish to be sprayed.  The lifeguard or pool manager may remove them at any time.
  5. Children who are not toilet-trained must have approved swimming diapers or rubber pants or leak proof swim pants.  No disposable diapers are allowed.  Children who are not toilet trained are encouraged to use the Baby Pool.
  6. Only children under 5 and their parents are allowed in the Baby Pool and the surrounding gated area.
  7. Children under 9 years old can not be left at the pool without a parent or responsible adult, age 14 or older.  They must also be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted.
  8. Any child who can not swim the width of the pool  may not enter the pool unless accompanied by an adult.
  9. All members' children must have an emergency contact on file at the pool.  Any changes to the Byrnwyck Directory are the responsibility of the member.
  10. No glass objects may be brought inside the fence at any time.
  11. Profane language, boisterous or other inappropriate conduct will not be tolerated.
  12. Absolutely no swimming when there is thunder and/or lighning.  During storm, swimmers must leave the pool area, both main pool and baby pool.  The lifeguard's decision is final on this issue.
  13. All efforts will be made to maintain one lap lane during pool hours.  Requests should be made to the lifeguard.
  14. Inside the pool is a no smoking area. 
  15. Pool furniture is not allowed outside of the pool gated area. 
  16. Bikes, skateboards, scooters, ect... must be left outside the fence where they will not block the entrance to the pool or otherwise impede the natural flow of traffic.
  17. The Byrnwyck Communtiy Association (BCA) is not responsible for towel, clothing and other personal articles left at the pool.  Those items will be put in a Lost and Found basket, and if not claimed in a timely manner will be discarded.
  18. The storage and pump rooms are off limits to all but authorized personnel.
  19. Residents of Byrnwyck subdivision who are not members of the BCA may not be guests at the pool.
  20. All members should sign the register when entering the pool area. 
  21. Supervision of play on the playground or tennis court's is the the lifeguard's responsibility.  However, since these areas are the property of BCA, children and parents must follow any directions of the lifeguard.
  22. Please report any pool or tennis related problems immediately to the lifeguard, Pool Manager, BCA volunteer, or Sweetwater Pool Management.
  23. Due to ongoing Dekalb water restrictions the fountains in the Baby Pool may not operate continuously during 2009 swim season.
